Employers helping Employees
I have heard some great stories about fantastic employers helping out their employees during this time of need. Not just donating money to the cause, but actually giving their employees assistance, salaries through this, making up for lost wages, helping with benefits - fantastic! Some I have found, some were emailed in from residents! Check it out!
Canadian Natural Resources - has helped there employees right from day 1. First they set up a help line. 2. They sent an e-mail stating to keep all hotel receipts and submit them. 3. They gave everyone a cash amount to help them get through this tough time. Randy Stamp and everyone at CNRL deserves a hugh applause and a very big Thank You :)
CE Franklin. We were paid for the duration of the evacuation, and were put up in hotels by the company. We also received monetary gifts through fundraising efforts of employees across the company. They have continued to be supportive through this whole ordeal, and I am eternally appreciative of all they have done!!
Essential Energy Services - offering employees support, financial and emotional, and calling each and every one of their employees personally to check in, ask what they could do for them, and all around caring. They are in contact with their employees frequently, ensuring all needs are met. Also, they are sitting on a massive donation right now awaiting to hear from the Town where those funds could best be directed to help the people of Slave Lake the most. Gold Star Essential! Employees should be proud, and those who hire you should know they are doing business with a fantastic and caring company.
High Prairie School Division who continued our wages while we were away; who is working with the housing authority to help employees find long term housing while they rebuild; who did what they could to let us know they "had our backs".
thank you.
Husky Oil: Supported their employees financially, assisted the employees that lost homes with emergency housing, and continue to assist in any way they can.
Morning Star Inc. a shop in Athabasca that has been selling I (heart) Slave Lake t-shirts and giving ALL of the profit
back to OUR community to help business rebuild. WOW! Barb is amazing!
Thank you to: Peace Hills Insurance has been good to us. In the end we will not have a claim, but they were there to answer our questions and inspect our property beyond what we felt was required. Thank you
Atco Gas: called their employees to see if they and their families were safe, covered our hotel costs and if we needed anything we were to contact human resources. They are a super company to work for.
Grizzly Ridge Honda: paid employees during the evacuation

Doug Babiy of SL FORD has been so incredibly generous and supportive to all of his staff.
Tom Moore, the manager of the Lesser Slave Lake Regional Landfill. Tom called us back to work the morning of May 18th to start getting the landfill ready to receive the first trucks with fire debris. He took excellent care of us, from making sure we got through the brricades without hassle, to providing us with whatever supplies or necessities we may have needed throughout the following 2 weeks while we stayed in Hotel rooms. In the weeks ahead he worked around the clock getting the details sorted out about how we were going to deal with the mass amounts of waste being brought into our tiny little landfill, and hired more staff so my coworkers (there is usually only 4 staff total out here) and I could get some well deserved days off. Since then he's been able to find us an employee trailer (generously donated by PENWEST to lease for 6 months) to give us more room for the now 13+ staff we have. All in all, I couldn't ask for a better boss through this entire shmozzle and I'm glad to be a Lesser Slave Lake Regional Waste Management Facility Employee
