Fantastic Schools, Teachers & Students Who Have Helped
To the many schools and students, and teachers & staff, and parents too - you are fantastic! Thank you so much for your efforts!!!
Whispering Hills School in Athabasca
The Library hosted a book fair with proceeds going to the Slave Lake Library - thank you to everyone who supported this, and the great librarian there who organized this!
Pat Hardy Elementary School in Whitecourt - The school children stuffed shoe boxes full of goodies for gender & age specific children. The families also donated clothing, toiletries and numerous other items which were dropped of at the curling rink in Slave Lake. Thank you Pat Hardy Elementary!!
Thanks to the Grande Yellowhead Public School division and the Eagle Radio station, I have over 70 grad outfits, the the grads and their parents. There isn't much for the lads, but there is some sibling clothing too. My friends and I are still interested in going to Slave Lake and/or Westlock to help grads find their clothing and fit them. We were thinking of the 2nd or 3rd week of July and would bring a couple of seamstresses too. Please let me know if the timing would work. Any clothing left we would like to bring back to our community for future grads in the Edson area. Jayne
Trinity Lutheran Christian Academy
This lovely and great group of students, staff and parents did something so cool for the people of Slave Lake and area. And got on it right after the fire!
The school, which is only 3 years old heard about the devistation in Slave Lake and MD #124 and organized Strathmore to donate at their school. With only 74 students, they collected a HUGE amount of donations. The kids came to school on a Saturday, and on that day - May 23rd, Trinity's School Council collected the donations of clothing, toiletries and various other items at the school gym.
And they didn't stop there! Not only did they collect, the students, parents and staff sorted the items dropped off by the generous people of Strathmore and area. (Near Calgary). Trinity's double garage now holds (more like is packed to the rafters) with donations of over 100 bags and boxes of donated items!
Whats even better is, knowing that Slave Lake isn't ready to recieve donations, they are willing to and will store donations until are told to send them. WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW times a million!!
** Trinity's school council, staff and students are extremely appreciative of the level of support shown by
the town of Strathmore in support of the clothing drive on behalf of the families of Slave Lake.
A special thanks to Don Derraugh from the school for sending me these pictures and the facts for this story - you should be so proud of yourselves Strathmore and Trinity Lutheran!!!!
